Webinar: Navigating Forward: Strengthening Resilience in Uncertain Times

 In Blog, Webinars

In recent weeks, I had the opportunity to share a Bible commentary at Congregation B’nai Israel, where I expressed deep gratitude for the unwavering support Healing Across the Divides has received from the synagogue over the last two decades. Reflecting on Joseph’s story from the Bible, I saw striking parallels to the Middle East conflict, especially through themes of familial betrayal, exile, and the rare hope for reconciliation. These narratives profoundly connect with our mission, reflecting the deep-seated mistrust and hostility between Israelis and Palestinians, two groups mired in a shared yet contentious history.

Despite 2024 being a year fraught with increased tensions and the heartbreaking events of October 7, 2023, Healing Across the Divides faces the future with determination. Our recent call for proposals received an overwhelming 80 responses, a testament to enduring resilience and hope amidst adversity. My visits to grantees in regions like West Bank refugee camps and the Negev illuminated the simple yet powerful truth that, despite the conflict, people fundamentally desire peace and a normal life. Our initiatives continue to provide critical health support, navigating the political complexities with sincere dedication to fostering change.

Heading into 2025, we acknowledge the potential for heightened geopolitical challenges, especially with expected policy shifts under the new U.S. administration. Nevertheless, Healing Across the Divides remains resolute in its mission to support community resilience, with a particular focus on empowering women through health. By fostering collaborations, like reproductive rights projects in Jerusalem and rooftop gardens in Nablus, we are planting the seeds for future peace and social transformation.

These endeavors are not only about immediate impact but also nurturing future leaders who may emerge as pivotal change-makers. Your continued support and feedback are invaluable as we prepare to face new challenges with hope and resolve.
